Description
Nahyat, a brand that was launched in 2017, and Iwakura AA have partnered up to release a new item. The result is a garment that incorporates the essence of Japanese culture with an exquisite balance, like threading a needle.
The theme is "Kasuri" and the design is centered around the single technique of Kasuri, which transitions between Japanese and Western clothing. By dyeing silk mohair with Kasuri and knitting it with mohair yarn, a mysterious Kasuri pattern is created.
It was really interesting to work with Nahyat on this project. Although he is a designer, whenever we talk, he always keeps the perspective of the factories and artisans who are so kind to him. He told me that this is the basis of Nahyat's creations and is connected to their branding. The artisans and designers behind it all struggled and went through trial and error before completing this knitwear piece.

This knit is made with a four-color ikat pattern made from silk mohair and a polyester mohair core thread with South American and British wool as the accent threads. The ikat dye visible on the ground is a single color that is mixed with the wool in a gradual transition, and the difference in count creates a structure where the colors are intertwined, blurring the boundary between the scattered ikat and mohair threads. This piece delicately reveals the subtle, shifting colors of the ikat, cast by the shadows of the wildly blown wool.
