There are countless shades of white, and layering countless shades of white in Japanese clothing and footwear is the basis of the techniques and designs.
The image of the same colors in suminagashi is not that of adding or subtracting, but rather that of mixing or placing the same things on top of each other.

Designer Tenchi Yoshimoto was born in Elk Valley, a mountainous region in Northern California, to parents who were musicians. He spent his childhood in an environment where everything had to be made by hand, surrounded by nature with no electricity or running water.
He then moved to Japan and began making clothes on his own after graduating from high school. After gaining experience working for domestic and international brands and pattern offices, he established the menswear label Amachi in 2017, setting up an atelier in the foothills of Nagano Prefecture.
