Zori were once everyday footwear in Japan.
In the past, skilled craftsmen could make more than thirty pairs in a single day.
As lifestyles changed, however, zori gradually fell out of daily use,
and the number of craftsmen has continued to decline.
Even so, at Sekizuka we believe that
the true form of craftsmanship lies in balancing speed and quality.
From this belief, we developed what we call Ready-Made Zori—
zori produced in quantity, yet made by hand.
Today, the word “mass production” often carries a negative impression.
But we believe the opposite:
the ability to produce consistently by hand is itself a mark of genuine skill.
For this reason, Sekizuka continues to propose two kinds of footwear:
custom-made pieces, created to suit each individual’s life and attire,
and ready-made zori, which can be chosen freely, whenever the moment feels right.
Until now, our ready-made zori have not been available in-store.
With the wish to deliver zori to more people,
we are now offering original ready-made zori exclusively through our online store.
Because they do not require a long waiting period,
they can be chosen easily, just as the thought occurs.
If this sense of ease helps bring zori a little closer to everyday life,
