ABOUT
Hakimono Sekizuka through design, production, and retail.
Iwakura AA introduces objects and ideas from Japan and abroad through our own perspective.
Located in the quiet area of Iwakura, Kyoto,
a former timber warehouse was renovated to create our current footwear shop and gallery.
The space features high ceilings and an open, airy atmosphere.
Objects personally selected by the owner, as well as items specially made for the space,
are displayed comfortably and without excess.
Leather tabi, Adan grass sandals, beautifully crafted scissors,
and refined garments all coexist here.
The gallery also hosts events on a regular basis.
Within the same building, a glass-partitioned tatami space functions as both
the footwear shop and the owner’s atelier.
Here, we listen to each customer’s needs and accept custom footwear orders.
We propose footwear not only for traditional Japanese attire,
but also styles that can be worn with Western clothing.
Through skilled handcraft, we create footwear that is both beautiful and comfortable to wear.
Our theme is “Japanese footwear that is not shoes.”
Rather than fitting into categories such as Western or traditional dress,
we aim to propose footwear that exists beyond such boundaries.
In a world where many things constantly change,
we hope to continue offering things that remain steady and trustworthy.
With this in mind, we dedicate ourselves to our work each day.

Repairs & Care
Sekizuka Footwear designs, produces, and sells a wide range of footwear.
We also offer repairs for zori sandals, including:
-
Hanao (thong) adjustment
-
Surface and material repair
-
Heel repair
-
Hanao replacement
One of the great joys of working by hand is the ability to bring unused items back to life.
Zori sandals are often worn infrequently, and some remain stored away for decades.
Sandals inherited from a mother or grandmother can be transformed simply
by changing the hanao’s material or color, restoring their beauty.
Before discarding old footwear,
we invite you to consult with us.
