岩倉AA別誂 香水 山吹匂
Description
Yamabuki no Nioi (Kerria Glow)
Outer: Yamabuki / Inner: Yellow
From Irome Hishō
A color combination inspired by the vivid beauty of the yamabuki flower in bloom.
In classical color layering, nioi refers to a gradual deepening of color from the lower layers upward. Originally describing the warm hues of red and vermilion, the term later came to include other tones such as purple, yellow, and white, and became an established method of layering colors in Heian-period court dress.
In Eiga Monogatari, the phrase “Yamabuki no Nioi” describes the color arrangement of a princess’s carriage, the first deeper in tone and the second lighter. The name also appears among the layered color combinations of court attire.
Even as the colors glow in spring rain,
never do they lose their charm—
how dear the blossoms
of yamabuki.
— Kokin Wakashū
Color Concept
Unlike the yellow flowers of other seasons, the yamabuki carries the warm light unique to spring.
This fragrance evokes the soft warmth of that light and the gentle air of the season, enriched with the fresh moisture of spring rain resting on the petals.
